# Exchange Rates

Fern works with several providers to facilitate currency exchange. For cryptocurrencies, we surface the best rate from underlying exchanges. For on/offramps, Fern surfaces an FX rate that is usually within a small spread from the Reuters Open Bid rate between USD and the other fiat currency.

## Guaranteed Quotes

Transactions with `guaranteedQuote` set to `true` that involve foreign exchange (FX) will have an additional 5bps spread applied to the exchange rate. This spread allows Fern to guarantee the output amount for the duration of the quote.
